Introducing: Condition Chronicity Flagging
Metriport introduces Condition Chronicity Flagging feature to automatically sort patient conditions by chronic, non-chronic, and unspecified based on the ICD-10-CM codes.

As part of Day 2 of Launch Week V2 at Metriport, we’re introducing Condition Chronicity Flagging 🗂
TL;DR:
Available directly within Metriport’s UI or via API, providers and data teams can now instantly differentiate between chronic and non-chronic medical conditions.
See docs: https://docs.metriport.com/medical-api/fhir/extensions/chronicity
How Does It Work?
Under the hood, Metriport leverages the Chronic Condition Indicator Refined (CCIR) data set, developed as part of the Healthcare Cost & Utilization Project (HCUP) by the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ).
This tool classifies conditions as chronic, non-chronic, or unspecified based on the ICD-10-CM codes.
Why It Matters
- Providers can quickly identify their patients' chronic conditions for improved treatment at the point of care.
- Simplified patient medical record summaries ensures only the most relevant information is present.
- Improved data quality means improved capabilities for risk adjustment, quality measures, and more.
